We have many international locations. The same machine assembly methods and quality are very important.
Head of Production, Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH
Status Quo
The retirement of experienced workers threatens the loss of crucial assembly knowledge that has been built up over decades.
Different working methods and the individual experience of assembly technicians lead to deviations in assembly quality between international production sites and external assembly partners.

Challenges
Complex and paper-based work processes had to be eliminated in favor of more efficient and modern assembly activities
Training methods based on the master-student principle were complicated by language barriers and required a training period of several weeks
International quality deviations led to the need for simple, multilingual and future-proof documentation for all locations

Implementation of Operations1
The complete assembly of a large machine and training for the Chinese subsidiary were defined as a pilot project. In order to ensure that the process knowledge that only exists in the minds of the employees is retained in the long term, an experienced fitter worked with the project managers to create step-by-step instructions in Operations1, including images and automatic translation into Chinese.
After a brief introduction to the software, the Chinese colleagues carried out the assembly steps independently and efficiently in the predefined process quality.

Results
Operations1 is now an integral part of the assembly and testing processes at Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbH and enables significantly simplified and up to 70 % faster training of personnel. This allows the company to react more flexibly to external influences.
The software is now being used successfully in several areas to train the company's own staff and temporary workers - both in national and international subsidiaries and at external assembly companies.
